Andrea MacLeod’s research interests focus on the development of models of support for adults with disabilities, specifically those with Asperger syndrome and models that promote self-advocacy and autonomy. With other colleagues within the School, she has been involved in developing a national web-based resource on autism funded by the Department for Education, and a similar resource for primary health care practitioners in Scotland. She has also been involved in a review of the needs and services for children and young people with Asperger syndrome in Northern Ireland funded by the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People.
