Adrian Blackledge’s research interests and publications are situated in the following areas: multilingualism; linguistic ethnography; education of linguistic minority students; multilingual literacies; language ideologies; discursive negotiation of identities in multilingual contexts; critical discourse analysis; and language testing, citizenship and migration.

He is currently working with several other colleagues in the School on a three-year ESRC-funded project on multilingualism in research practice, and with European colleagues on a two-year HERA-funded project, Investigating Discourses of Inheritance and Identity in Four Multilingual European Settings.

Professor Blackledge welcomes expressions of interest from prospective doctoral researchers in all his areas of interest and expertise.
