Description

Dynamic Global Vegetation Model (DGVM) simulations of net carbon uptake in old-growth and regrowth forest (defined as a stand age of less than 140 years) for the periods 1981-1990, 1991-2000 and 2001-2010. The TBM LPJ-GUESS was forced to recreate an observation-based distribution of forest stand age allowing calculation of both demographic and environmental components of forest carbon uptake. Results from additional simulations forcing the DGVMs, LPJ-GUESS, LPJ and CABLE with a dataset of land-use change transitions (LUH2) are provided as a comparison. A full description of the data can be found in the paper to which it relates: Pugh, T.A.M., Lindeskog, M., Smith, B., Poulter, B., Arneth, A., Haverd, V., Calle, L., Role of forest regrowth in global carbon sink dynamics. Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA, in press, 2019. If using this data, please cite both this dataset and the original paper.
