Abstract

As the frequency and magnitude of extreme weather events increases, without effective adaptation, so will the health and socio-economic impacts. A regional understanding of community perspectives of adaptation from diverse citizens is needed to identify the barriers and opportunities to community-scale adaptation and to inform place-based adaptation pathways. The most deprived areas face the greatest climate risks. Children, elders and people with long-term health issues are the most affected. Inclusive and transformative climate adaptation needs to be informed by evidence on both the impacts and drivers of climate injustice.
