Abstract
Advances made in the UK on indoor air pollution can be used for the creation of a self-consistent inventory of indoor air pollution concentrations and emission rates by activity, pollutant and environment. A methodological approach for an easy-to-use indoor air pollutants inventory will be presented. Gaps in measurements can be filled initially by using measurements from other countries and should be updated with new measurements from UK as they become available. Emission rates of indoor air pollutants calculated on the basis of activity-related measurements will represent an important input for numerical modelling of indoor air simulations. The creation of this indoor air pollutants inventory represents a step-change in indoor air pollution research in the UK. Eventually such an inventory can be coupled with a user-friendly visualisation tool that will permit the intuitive visualisation of all these data both for academic and non-academic audiences.
