Abstract

Two decades after the publication of Amos Yong’s The Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh, this essay traces Wolfgang Vondey’s original assessment of Yong’s landmark work and evaluates the subsequent changes in Yong’s theological career. The author revisits Vondey’s critique, summarizes Yong’s initial response, and examines the further development of Yong’s thought pertaining to the book’s trinitarian, ecumenical, and narrative framework. The goal of this assessment is to determine the state of Yong’s methodological endeavor to define the logic of Pentecostal theology. This reevaluation suggests that The Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh provides a succinct and effective entrance to Yong’s overall theological project and its development.
