Abstract

Venom immunotherapy (VIT) is the only effective treatment for prevention of further anaphylactic reactions to bee and wasp stings in allergic individuals. A previous national survey carried out in 2006/2007 revealed significant heterogeneity in UK practice.The British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI)
guidelines for the diagnosis and management of hymenoptera venom (HV) allergy were subsequently published in 2011.This repeat survey was carried out to assess whether publication of BSACI guidelines helped improve the diagnosis and management of HV allergy in the UK National Health Service (NHS).
