Abstract

This presentation aims to give a narrative of the gradual development of an online international learning project between Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Coventry University UK as part of two undergraduate nursing programmes. It will highlight the evolving project from the first international contact in Hong Kong in July 2014 through to a synchronous online video exchange between two sets of Hong Kong Polytechnic and Coventry University nursing students in October 2016. The synchronous exchange was ambitious involving students directly presenting and feeding back to each other. It will highlight the academic and technical challenges and successes in the development and delivery of such a project including:1. The need for clear aims and objectives from the beginning of such a project.2. The importance of partners having closely aligned courses or modules.3. The importance of expert technical support from the beginning, at both universities to ensure international technology aligns successfully within each institutionThis project started from small beginnings and has given nursing students from both countries a unique opportunity to share knowledge of international nursing and healthcare research and has also broadened their perspective of international nursing and research. This contributes to the ever-growing internationalisation strategies between the two universities.
