Abstract
This paper contains the findings of a numerical investigation into the aerodynamic flow around a double-stacked freight wagon at 30° yaw using large-eddy simulation (LES) and Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations. The investigation focuses on the forces incurred by the wagon but also briefly examines the flow structures around it. The force and moment coefficients are compared to an experimental study with similar geometry which shows comparative results.
