Abstract
This policy brief focuses on the preparation phase of community sponsorship – the period during which volunteers form groups, complete an application form, and prepare for the arrival of a refugee family. It outlines key challenges encountered at this stage and presents recommendations to enhance volunteer recruitment, diversity, coordination with local authorities and housing arrangements. Improving the volunteer experience at this early point is vital for the long-term success and sustainability of the scheme.
