Abstract
Spheroid is a live computer music work that uses improvised performance and algorithmic processes to create spatial texture. The spine of the work is a snowballing irregular loop which sequences, deforms and attracts material as it revolves in symbiosis with performance. Developing the piece I was compelled by the idea of a synthetic ecology where unnamed organisms elasticate and reposition categorical conceptions of species, nature, and artifice in a posthuman morphogenesis. The work was created as part of a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship researching synthesis of spatial texture.
