Riotous images: representations of Joseph Priestley in British prints during the French Revolution

This article focuses on printed images that were published in Britain during the 1790s, depicting the educationist, theologian, chemist, physicist, historian and philosopher Joseph Priestley (1733-1804). It is argued that such etchings and engravings are indicative of, and contributed to, the lifelong political and historical education of late eighteenth-century adults.
