Abstract

RcsB interacts with GadE to mediate acid resistance in stationary phase E. coli K12. We show here that RcsB is also required for inducible acid resistance in exponential phase, and acts on promoters which are not GadE regulated. It is also required for acid resistance in E. coli O157:H7.
