Abstract
In Radical Love: A Transatlantic Dialogue on Race and Mixed-Race, Daniel McNeil and Leanne Taylor explore the transformative potential of love as a political and intellectual force in navigating racial identity and mixed-race experiences across national boundaries. Framed as a transatlantic conversation, the article challenges dominant narratives of race, belonging, and multiculturalism by foregrounding the emotional and affective dimensions of racialised life. Drawing on personal reflection, cultural critique, and interdisciplinary scholarship, McNeil and Taylor advocate for a form of “radical love” that resists commodification and superficial inclusion, instead fostering deep engagement with histories of colonialism, migration, and resistance. The dialogue invites readers to consider how love—when rooted in vulnerability, accountability, and solidarity—can disrupt entrenched racial hierarchies and open space for more expansive, relational understandings of identity and community.
