Abstract

The expected quality of service in fast moving mobile receivers in macrocellular shadowed environments is estimated for different scenarios. The derived expressions include most of the radio network parameters, such as reuse patterns, sectorisation, C/I protection ratios, cell layouts etc. hence they can represent a subset of a cellular planning tool. A methodology for specifying the quality of information required for optimal cellular planning is also given. Possible errors in estimating service quality and cell capacity in GSM are quantified and consequences explained.
