Abstract
This article describes some of the fundamental scientific issues associated with urea and thiourea inclusion compounds, which are based on one-dimensional tunnel host structures, with emphasis on the local structural properties of these solids. Several approaches and strategies that may be used to investigate these properties are described. A brief resume of other important properties of urea and thiourea inclusion compounds is also given.
