Abstract
The kinetics and products of the IO + BrO reaction were discussed. The reaction was studied using the technique of laser flash photolysis with kinetic ultraviolet (UV) absorption spectroscopy. No direct measurement of I or Br was performed. IBr was observed as a minor product (k/k <0.2). No evidence of OBrO formation was observed (k/k <0.15). The results were compared with previous studies of the IO + BrO reaction, and the atmospheric implications were briefly discussed.
