Isostructurality in three-component crystals achieved by the combination of persistent hydrogen bonding motifs and solvent inclusion

Abstract

We demonstrate how solution crystallization of lamotrigine with flexible alkane dicarboxylic acids with different chain lengths (adipic acid and pimelic acid) generates a series of four isostructural solvated three-component salts. The analysis of their crystal structures shows that isostructurality is achieved by the combination of robust hydrogen bonding motifs and the incorporation of solvent guest molecules.
