Abstract
The paper compares the contents of respective TV programs (2003-2004) in the predominantly Muslim republic of Tatarstan and in ethnically Russian administrative units of Russian Federation. All-Russia TV-discourse of Muslims tends to feature predominantly foreign Islam characterizing respective processes mostly via the intensity of radical Islamic groups' activities and Iraqi issues. In Tatarstan, mass media seem to pay insufficient attention to developments in Islam theology, as well as to some pressing issues of Muslims residing in the Republic. Some steps contributing to an effectively more positive image of Moslems and Islam are suggested.
