Abstract

This introduction lays out the purpose of the volume and why it is still important to do reception history, anniversary studies, and especially gives context Byrd studies in the 21st century. It also contextualizes Byrd studies within English musicology, and the anniversary of Byrd within the milieu of 21st century musicology. Finally, the introduction sets out possible further avenues of research for this important English composer.
