Abstract
This textbook develops an integrated approach to understanding the theory and practice of international business, exploring drivers, risks and rewards, value creation and monetarization and management issues and business models deployed by international businesses. It builds on recent developments in international business and internationalisation with an emphasis on responsible business, practice, sustainability, adaptability, optimization, and rapid technological developments and their implications. This book explores fundamental processes that are key to successfully managing international business, providing insights into how to manage international businesses, with coverage of small firms and large transnationals, different business models and approaches to value creation and trade-offs between profit maximization and responsibility and this includes engagement with debates on mitigation and adaptation to climate change. This integrated approach is framed around a building blocks approach to understanding the practice of international business. Eleven building blocks are identified, and these are divided into processes, things and facilitators. This building block approach is developed into a practice informed approach based on how to read international businesses.
