Information: the foundation for essence and the mechanism for traducianism?

Assuming that souls do exist, the origin of the soul of each individual person may be explained by one of pre-existence, creationism and traducianism. Creationists include Calvin, Turretin, Hodge, and Grudem; traducianists include Luther, Shedd, Geisler, and Moreland. Scripturally, it might be argued that the explanation is underdetermined, thus we would be within our epistemic rights to draw on our understanding of reality to help decide between the two main candidates: creationism and traducianism. 1 In this paper, I draw on the metaphysical views set out by William Dembski in his book, Being as Communion, 2 to show that an informational view of reality can support the traducianist view of the origin of the soul and the transmission of original sin. Further, the informational view can also explain the essence of human nature and how a person can retain their “body” during the intermediate state before the physical resurrection with new, incorruptible bodies.
