Abstract
Philosophical theories of human nature offer systematic and comprehensive accounts of human beings’ most significant distinguishing characteristics. Typically, the accounts are covertly if not overtly value-laden. They are central in people’s perennial attempts to organize their understandings of our relations to God, to the cosmos, to nature, and to each other, and to uncover the possibilities, meanings, and purposes of human life.
