Abstract
This entry examines the current state of knowledge on gender and displacement. It begins by highlighting key findings related to the lived gendered experiences of displacement, with a focus on altered gender roles and access to resources and services, and the continuum of gender-based violence throughout the forced migration experience. This is followed by an overview of policy and humanitarian responses to gender and displacement. The entry then identifies research gaps and current limitations, noting the disproportionate focus on Global Northern settings, the under-researched Global Southern contexts, and the neglect of certain minoritised groups. In doing so, it charts the future direction of key debates on gender and displacement.
