Field-Theoretical Approaches to the Anderson Localization Problem

Abstract

Renormalization group calculations in the framework of field-theoretical approaches to the localization problem are reviewed. Both the results of the higher-loop order analysis of the standard sigma-model and the presence of the additional relevant high-gradient operators indicates some difficulties in constructing the analytical continuation to the three-dimensional case while the two-dimensional results in the region of metal conductivity proves to be quite reliable. As an application of the method, the statistics of the conductance fluctuations is discussed.
