Abstract
The first evidence for the decay π΅ββ π·**0β’πββ’β’πΜ
π is obtained using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9ββfbβ1, at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. Here, the π·**0Β meson represents any of the three excited charm mesons π·1β’(2420)0, π·β’*2(2460)0, and π·β²1β’(2400)0. The π΅β β π·**0β’πββ’β’πΜ
πΒ signal is measured with a significance of 3.5β’π, including systematic uncertainties. The combined branching fraction β¬β‘(π΅βΒ β π·**01,2β’πββ’πΜ
π) Γ β¬β‘(π·**0 1,2Β β π·*+β’πβ), where π·**01,2 denotes both π·1β’(2420)0 and π·*2β’(2460)0 contributions, is measured to be [0.051 Β± 0.013β’(stat) Β± 0.006β’(syst) Β± 0.009β’(ext)]%, where the last uncertainty reflects that of the branching fraction of the normalization channel π΅β β π·**01,2β’π·βπ (*). The ratio between the tauonic and muonic semileptonic π΅ decays, with the latter taken from world average values, is also determined and found to be ββ‘(π·**01,2) = 0.13 Β± 0.03β’(stat) Β± 0.01β’(syst) Β± 0.02β’(ext).
