Abstract

This case study evaluates the impact of an in-person escape room game on the student’s motivation and learning. The primary objectives of this game are to (i) increase student’s engagement and motivation, (ii) provide a unique revision tool for students before their class test, and (iii) enhance learning and teamwork skills. After a second run of the in-person escape game on the Introduction to Mathematics for Economics module, there is a deeper understanding of how students perceived the game and its overall effectiveness.  The findings of this study highlight the importance of innovative teaching methods as an alternative type of revision, effectively improving student motivation and enthusiasm in the classroom. Additionally, it emphasises the advantages of group work within a game-based learning context, shedding light on the potential benefits of the collaborative learning experience.
