Engineering student belonging: towards an operational framework

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

This concept paper outlines a review of literature project aimed at defining 'student belonging' in engineering education to support the creation of an operational framework to bolster and enhance it. We are here examining the theoretical foundations of belonging, its integration with existing literature, and its relationship with identity and alienation. Our objective is to refine our theoretical knowledge in terms of definitions, data gathering and intervention, to implement this framework in the future within the context of higher education in the UK.
