Abstract
Two years on from the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Sponsorship Scheme (“Homes for Ukraine”) has provided a safe route for Ukrainians f leeing the war to travel to and settle in Birmingham. The Homes for Ukraine scheme has successfully provided shelter for many families and individuals fleeing war and in many cases has supported the integration of displaced Ukrainians into local communities and fostered lasting friendships. Nonetheless, this evaluation of the scheme and its implementation in the city raises several issues and concerns, which should be addressed if this scheme is to be continued or provide a model for other resettlement programmes.
