Abstract

This chapter considers audiences localised documentation strategies through various social media and explicate the ways in which these represent a discursive field in relation to the other fossils of performance within the liminal digital space of new and social media generates a visibility for the nature of experience to the enunciative modality of the originating live performance event. Secondly, it considers the nature of those documentations that audiences themselves produce, asking how our memories of theatrical events, evoked by the pieces of evidence we collate, relate to the ephemeral event itself. Making an analysis of specific instances of audience documentation we explore the ways in which memory, rememberance and remembering are employed as localised documentational strategies which contribute to the lively stratification process of performance documentation.
