Abstract
Taking present-day working assumptions about the structure of nominal phrases in the generative literature as given, the highest level of a nominal phrase and nominal phrases in general will be described as determiner phrases (DP) and this paper takes as its point of departure a preliminary description of definiteness and specificity in the Sumerian DP.
