N2 - The effect of the Ni/Fe ratio on the glass transition, the crystallization behavior and glass forming ability of mechanically alloyed amorphous Fe-Ni-Zr-B alloys has been investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to obtain the glass transition, crystallization temperatures, and the melting points of the amorphous alloys. The glass forming ability is discussed with relation to the Ni/Fe ratio. The crystallization products have been studied using a combination of X-ray diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy. Finally, a metastable phase diagram for crystallization is established. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
