Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

This book offers a comprehensive legal analysis of theoretical and normative issues surrounding cellular technologies as applied to foodstuffs. It examines and links different disciplines within and beyond the law to contribute to new perspectives in the current debate about how to tackle pressing global problems with the help of emerging new technologies, focusing on cell-based foods. This study includes administrative law, intellectual property rights, commercial law, with a special focus on international economic law, food and agriculture law, and comparative law. This book defines the notion of cellular agriculture law, which the author pioneered conceptually in earlier works and continues to develop in her ongoing research agenda. The book frames the emergence of cell-based foods from the perspective of applied methods of law, thus offering suggestions for responsive regulatory design. It also intervenes in debates of interest for the academic community, legal practitioners and the tech industry. The book thus suggests multi-jurisdictional practical approaches that are useful at a global scale.
