Abstract
The technical discussions and debates presented at the Second ALSTOM Benchmark Challenge on the specifications for gasifier control systems are discussed. The control system specifications insist that the system must qualify the two pressure disturbance tests, a load acceptance test and coal quality disturbance test. The application of multi-objective optimization techniques to base-line controller structure to tune the controller simultaneously is also discussed. The conference has provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss various control system designs and to evaluate a range of control techniques.
