Abstract

GamCare and its partner network provide gambling treatment services in Great Britain as part of the National Gambling Treatment Service (NGTS). They offer face-to-face, online and telephone therapeutic support and treatment for people with gambling problems as well as family and friends who are impacted by gambling (affected others). This project examined treatment data from Gamcare’s client record management (CRM) system with the intention of assessing what impacted treatment effectiveness. The population of focus was all valid clients who started and completed psychosocial treatment with GamCare, or one of their partner agencies, between 1st April 2015 and 31st March 2020. Valid episodes were then defined as all episodes of care that had:
- a start and end date specified between 01/04/2015 and 31/03/2020
- one attended assessment with a CORE-10 measure attached
- a valid client profile linked to the episode
- a single psychosocial modality (mode of treatment – e.g. face to face, group, family, etc.) with one valid end session.

There were a total of 27,839 episodes of care that qualified for analysis.
