Acoustic background noise in photoacoustic tomography

Abstract

To characterize the limits of detection sensitivity in photoacoustic imaging, we applied ultra-sensitive sensors to measure the "acoustic background"- random pressures arising from thermal vibrations. The results could help guide the design of photoacoustic systems.
