Abstract

This paper firstly summarises the main aims and delivery plans of an innovation project which is being implemented by National Grid (NG) and the University of Birmingham to codevelop an independent facility and methodology for protection and control (P&C) coordination studies using the Real Time Digital Simulation (RTDS). The technical considerations are discussed for achieving the technical requirement as well as the cost-effectiveness to meet NG's expectations.
