I am an academic pharmacist with an interest in medication errors, medicines optimisation and the use of electronic health records. For my Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD), I am investigating the impact of electronic prescribing systems on pharmacist-physician communication in the hospital setting. This mixed-methods research has developed my skills in conducting systematic reviews, quantitative analysis of large datasets, and qualitative analysis of focus group and observational research data.
Over the past four years, I have been involved with a large NIHR programme grant investigating the adoption and implementation of electronic prescribing systems in English Hospitals. I have conducted research on high-risk prescribing errors amenable to clinical decision support, and developed the iMPACT tool to facilitate the collection of prescribing errors in NHS hospitals.
I co-supervise research projects for Biomedical Science, Pharmacy and medical students relating to medication safety.
