PhD projects

Peter Hancox is involved in the Natural Language Processing Group. He has worked on parsing lexical functional grammar and has become interested in concurrent constraint processing solutions to NLP problems. PhDs he has supervised include:

Incoherence and text comprehension: cognitive and computational models of inferential control
An investigation into the use of argument structure and lexical mapping theory for machine translation
Exploiting holistic computation: an evaluation of the sequential RAAM
Phrase structure in a computational model of child language acquisition
Multimodal user interfaces: an investigation and evaluation
The use of deterministic parsers on sublanguage for machine translation
A unification-based natural language interface to a database
