Research interests
I'm a historical linguist and interested in everything to do with theories of language change; I work mainly with early and late Modern English data. I'm especially interested in the causes and mechanisms of grammatical change. My PhD (2024) investigated the conditions for the innovation of be going to as a future-time expression. I'm currently working on a paper reevaluating the role of analogy and reanalysis in change.
