Personal profile
Biography
I am currently a PhD student in the Department of Linguistics and Communication at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, funded by the UKRI ESRC Midlands Graduate School DTP. Prior to my doctoral studies, I gained several years of professional experience in specialised translation and localisation. My research interests are corpus linguistics, critical discourse studies, professional communication, and translation studies.
My PhD project, supervised by Dr Matteo Fuoli and Dr Joe Spencer-Bennett, adopts corpus linguistics, critical discourse analysis, and reception-based methods to explore the multimodal representations of LGBTQ+ communities in Vietnamese-language newspapers, as well as Vietnamese audiences' perceptions and attitudes towards these representations.
