Liam currently supervises 2 PhD students, including co-supervision with University of Birmingham colleagues Professor Dominque Moran (DPVC Research Impact) and Dr Sarah Brooks-Wilson. Liam also externally co-supervises a VC scholarship holder (remittance and fees) in Public Policy at Leeds Trinity University (2025-2029)Liam has externally examined a completed PhD thesis related to young people and social inequality (Birmingham City University). He has also provided external examination for MPhil to PhD upgrade/ continuation examinations for several institutions, including Flinders University Australia, University of Huddersfield and Edge Hill University. Liam's research include education inequality, youth offending, childhood and youth, social and public policy, intersectionality, loneliness young people, care, NEET (not in education, employment or training), narrative and participatory methodologies.
