PhD projects

Sein Leung Soo’s primary area of expertise is in finite element simulation of metal cutting processes (2D and 3D). Other areas of expertise include:

High speed machining, grinding using small diameter wheels/ grinding points, electrical discharge machining and microscale machining employing both conventional and non-conventional processes
The machinability of aerospace alloys (nickel-based superalloys and titanium alloys) together with a wide range of ferrous/non-ferrous workpiece materials
He has been involved in research projects on: machinability of shape memory alloys together with design issues; electrolytic point grinding of nickel-based superalloys; and use of small diameter cutters for the machining of slots in nozzle guide vanes.
