Biography

Laura Holden joined Birmingham Law School in 2022. A former regulator and science and policy advisor to Defra, Laura’s expertise bridges the science-policy-regulation domains.

She is currently working with the Horizon 2020-funded PrecisionTox project on embedded translation, and the EU’s Partnership for the Assessment of Risk from Chemicals (PARC).

Laura has also worked as an expert with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

Research interests

Laura’s research interests are across the environment and energy sectors, in particular socio-legal and socio-technical aspects of transitions and change. Her research is interdisciplinary and she is particularly interested in understanding effective policy implementation.
