Lamyea is a PhD researcher in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Birmingham, specialising in human factors and passenger experience within next-generation aerospace systems. Her research explores how emerging aerospace technologies and operational environments influence human interaction, comfort, accessibility, trust, and overall user experience, particularly within advanced air mobility and future transport systems.
She completed her integrated Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Birmingham, where her work included projects related to human-machine interfaces for electric propulsion system management of electric air racing aircraft, satellite systems, CubeSat design, and educational flat-sat development for Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) training. Her wider technical interests span future aerospace systems, immersive technologies, robotics, and sustainable space infrastructure.
Alongside her doctoral research, Lamyea has been actively involved in the UK space sector through leadership, advocacy, and outreach initiatives with UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (UKSEDS). She has held roles including Vice-Team Lead for the National Rocketry Championship, Executive at-Large, and Vice-Team Lead of the Diversity & Advocacy team, contributing to student engagement, accessibility research, and national initiatives supporting future space talent. Her work has involved collaboration with organisations including the UK Space Agency, European Space Agency, British Interplanetary Society, Royal Astronomical Society, and the Space Universities Network.
Her research and project interests include:
She is particularly interested in ensuring that future aerospace and space systems are designed around human needs and experiences while widening participation within emerging industries.
