Biography

Dr Joshua Michael John Price is a post-doctoral researcher in the department of Inflammation and Ageing at the University of Birmingham. He completed his PhD in 2023 on the measurement of extracellular vesicles (EVs) using a novel fluorescent imaging approach. His work focuses on the biological roles and methodological challenges of EVs in complex systems.

Research interests

Dr Price has technical expertise in EV isolation and characterisation, advanced imaging, flow cytometry, and omics-based profiling. He also uses data science and machine learning in R to explore EV function and biomarker potential. He is the founder of the University of Birmingham Extracellular Vesicle Group and a lead organiser of the Midlands Extracellular Vesicle Network. He studies EVs across a range of conditions, including platelet and clotting disorders, musculoskeletal disease, osteoarthritis, and obesity. His recent research has expanded to include the impact of ageing and mitochondrial dysfunction on EV cargo and function.
