Accepting PhD Students

PhD projects

Hassan Hemida has more than ten years of working experience in both academia and industry running research projects that involve steady and unsteady simulations of single and multiphase flows. Although he has focused much of his work on wind loads on ground vehicles, he has conducted other successful projects that involve multiphase flow, heat transfer, combustion, mass transfer and shape optimization.

Dr Hemida is interested in supervising doctoral research students in the following areas:

Vehicles' aerodynamics
Wind loading and the kinematic envelope
Wind energy

Personal profile

Research interests

Dr Hemida has been recognised as an international, highly funded leader in the field of Fluid Mechanics bringing international recognition and delivering demonstrable impact through industry and policy engagement. International leadership evidenced by invitations to speak in China, Malaysia, Tunisia and the UK. This excellence extends from research to teaching.

My research interests range from fundamental experimental and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD--Large Eddy Simulations, LES, and Detached Eddy Simulations, DES) to applied computational wind engineering and wind energy harvesting. Although, have focused much of my work on wind loads on moving and stationary structures, I have conducted many other successful research projects that involve wind energy, multiphase flow, heat transfer, combustion, mass transfer, aeroacoustics, shape optimization and Finite Element Analysis of structures.
