Before joining the Department of Linguistics and Communication in 2025, Fei worked as an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham and as a Teaching Fellow at Aston University. Across her previous and current roles, she has taught and convened a range of linguistics modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Alongside her teaching, Fei has contributed to several interdisciplinary research projects exploring socially significant issues, language use, and artificial intelligence. She also serves as Secretary of the EuroCALL CorpusCALL Special Interest Group, supporting academic communication, event organisation, and knowledge exchange within the international corpus linguistics community.
My research interests mainly cover corpus linguistics and second language acquisition. I use corpus-based and mixed-methods approaches to investigate academic language use, second-language development, and digital media communication. I am particularly interested in translating linguistic research into effective teaching materials and examining how language constructs identities and socially significant issues in digital discourse.
