Biography

Edona Hyla is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Birmingham and a member of Kosovo’s Scientific Council for Natural Resources, Energy, and Environment Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) in Kosovo. She has completing her PhD in Biomaterials Science at the University of Leeds, focusing on biomaterials and metallic surface degradation in joint implants, collaborating with top institutions across Europe including ETH in Zurich and Uppsala in Sweden.

A Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow and Royal Academy of Engineering Global Talent awardee, Edona has presented her work internationally. Furthermore she has worked for the EU office in Kosovo in infrastructure projects and energy management at Pristina International Airport. With a background in mechanical engineering and advanced materials, Edona combines engineering and sustainability to tackle challenges in health and energy while advocating for women in STEM.
