Research interests

I'm currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow for the AHRC-funded project 'Institutional Abuse: Reformatory Schools and the Use of Physical Force', under the direction of Principal Investigator Dr Emma Watkins.

This interdisciplinary project examines the intersections of 19th-20th century British social history and sociology, with a focus on youth delinquency. This historical criminological study aims to explore the use of physical punishments in the first government-run youth institutions in England, known as reformatory schools.
